My work is an exploration of relationships. It can be the relationship of objects in a still life and how the closeness or the distance between them can change the feeling of the image being made. As well as relationships between forms, it includes relationships between color, shape, brush marks, memory, imagination and reality. How a color relates to the one placed next to it or how one mark of a color can have an impact on another mark of color on the other side of the image. The way individual brush marks, grouped together or spread apart, help reinforce other relationships being considered in the work. 

The paintings, mainly oil on canvas or panel, are done from life and are also developed directly from drawings done from life, keeping to mind the drawing / painting relationship. Charcoal drawings done with loose, quickly made marks that are readily translated to paint, resulting in paintings that maintain those qualities.
